There’s something special about the unplanned moments — the kind that unfold naturally, full of laughter, dirt, and the kind of joy only kids can express. This past weekend, my son Camilo had an impromptu playdate with Rhys, the son of one of my wife’s former coworkers. With no real agenda, we met up at the playground behind Asbury United Methodist Church in Salisbury, MD — and I just so happened to bring my camera.
Because… well, I always bring my camera. 😄📸
It turned out to be a perfect day for an outdoor shoot. The sun was shining, the breeze was gentle, and the Asbury Church playground gave us a safe, colorful space to let the boys be boys. Climbing, sliding, running, giggling — and the best part? It was all 100% candid. No posing, no pressure. Just authentic childhood joy, captured as it happened.
Why Candid Kids Sessions Are the Best
As a dad, I know how fast these moments pass. As a family photographer based in Salisbury, MD, I also know these spontaneous, personality-filled snapshots are the ones you’ll treasure most. With my new Sony A7III and 28–70mm lens, I was able to capture sharp, expressive images even as the kids zipped across the jungle gym.
If you’re looking for:
✅ Candid family photography
✅ Children’s lifestyle portraits
✅ Natural outdoor sessions in Salisbury, MD
✅ A photographer who works well with kids (and understands toddler energy!)
— then I’d love to work with you.
You don’t need a perfectly coordinated outfit or a special occasion. Sometimes, all it takes is a beautiful day, a good playground, and a camera-ready dad who can’t resist clicking the shutter.
